Boys: Coco, do you have any energy balls?
Coco: Yes, I made some this morning.
Boys: (Rush to the refrigerator!) Can we have one?
Coco: Yes, you can.
Boys: Coco, can we have two energy balls?
Coco: Sure!
Boys: This is the best day ever!
I try to always have energy balls when the grands come over. You know, those round bits of yumminess made with peanut butter and honey then filled with chocolate chips? I think the “secret” ingredient is honey! It holds the energy balls together and adds just the right amount of sweetness. Just like God’s word:
How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
Psalm 119:103
I’ve always had the idea that obedience is doing the right thing. Yes, I’m a rule follower and get a little upset if others do not follow, too. But this verse made me stop and think! Obedience is more than doing the right thing. Obedience starts with my love for God. I cannot tell you how freeing and refreshing this thought has been for me this month.
Now, when I’m helping the boys to see obedience through “ look.listen.love,” I share this verse.
I want them to see how our love for God should be the foundation of everything we do and how choosing love makes our day “the best day ever!” Kind of like having two energy balls!
